Complete ranch. Rancho hecho y derecho.

Just as we were saddling up a handsome young man on a handsome presumably young horse rides up, and says, “I was looking for you!” Now, isn’t that a line straight out of a 99 cent romance novel? But it’s life so obviously that wasn’t his angle J. Turns out that through the ranch grapevine (aka 2 meter radios) the last ranch told his ranch that we needed a guide, so he saddled up early and rode out to meet us and take us a couple hours farther down the road. So, no romance but that’s still pretty darn nice!

Justo cuando ensillábamos llego un guapo hombre joven en un guapo supuestamente joven caballo y nos dice “Las estaba buscando!” No es acaso una frase directo de una novelita de 10 pesos? Pero esto es la vida real así es que no creo que haya sido su punto. Resultó que a través del sistema de comunicación infalible sierreña (radios de 2 m) el último rancho le avisó a su rancho que necesitábamos un guía, así es que ensilló su caballo temprano y salió a nuestro encuentro para llevarnos unas horas mas adelante. Así es que, menos novelesco pero muy lindo.

Gustavo, or Tavo, accompanied us past his own ranch (he had ridden to us in 20 minutes, we took an hour to get back) and on to a ranch of a friend who had water for the mulas. And a kitchen to make machaca in, and a cool patio to rest on, and a guy who plays nice guitar, and a shower with only semi-freezing bucket water, and a really pretty cat. Oh, and they let us do laundry too! It was wonderful and perfect and we should have stayed there that night.

Gustavo, o Tavo, nos acompañó hasta pasar su propio rancho (lo que el se tardó 20 minutos en la mañana nosotros nos tardamos una hora!) hasta el rancho de unos amigos de el que tenían agua para las mulas. Y una cocina para hacer machaca, y un patio fresco para descansar, y un muchacho que toca guitarra, y una regadera con cubetas de agua que solo estaba media congelada, y un gato muy bonito. Ah, y nos dejaron lavar ropa también! Fue maravilloso y perfecto y deberíamos de habernos quedado ahí esa noche.

But we did decide to move on, even though we only road another hour or so. They even did us the favor of putting all our stuff in a pickup truck to let the mules rest a little… and two of the guys even rode out with us on big beautiful horses! They had a blast helping us set up camp and light a fire (we asked for a kitchen fire, they gave us a bonfire). Then they loaded their horses into the truck and sailed away! We certainly provide cheap entertainment everywhere we go and I mean that in the nicest way. We all enjoy our selves and no harm done.

Pero decidimos progresar , aunque solo avanzamos una hora mas o menos. Incluso los del rancho nos hicieron el favor de poner todas nuestras cosas en su pickup para dejar descansar un poco a las mulas… dos de los chavos hasta nos acompañaron en sus grandes y hermosos caballos! Se divirtieron mucho ayudándonos a preparar el campamento y prender una fogata (pedimos una fogata para cocinar y nos dieron una fogata para alumbrar el arroyo entero!). Luego metieron sus caballos en el pickup y partieron! Es completamente seguro que proveemos entretenimiento barato donde sea que vayamos y lo digo de la forma más inocente. Nos divertimos y todos somos felices.
