Back to a ranch. De regreso al rancho.

16/Noviembre/2013.
Mom and Leslie had come in to La Paz the previous day, leaving Teddi and assorted guides to move the mules from the Pacific side of the highway to a ranch about 12 km off the other side (Why did the mule cross the road?...). The house was once again in the possession of our landlady so I was free to enjoy a day in the city, as in, do all the shopping for the next leg of the trip. Chris and I spent the morning once again running all over town and finally at around eleven he sent us of with a kiss and a wave. We picked up the new office Trudi, Drew, on the way out of town too, since he would drop us and our stuff off and proceed to drive the car back to Loreto. It would be the first part of the trip that we would actually pack the pack animals.
We uneventfully reached the ranch in question, at the very end of a very bumpy dirt road. It was an exciting evening: we packed gear, we had dinner, met a very nice hound dog, found out Nacho's mule had abandoned the expedition, heard Teddi's tale of suffering through long hours of trotting in the dark and close encounters with large snakes, and promptly decided that we had a new honorary member of the Mula Mil. Although she cannot be with us for the entire trip Teddi will have joined as for more than 3/4 of the route; plus, her wok and interest with and for the ranch families of the peninsula compliments our own goals quite nicely.
